COVID-19

Sars Cov 2 (Covid-19) via RT-PCRTESTING

Molecular testing is used to detect SARS-CoV-2 in respiratory specimens of patients suspected of having COVID-19.

This is the only testing currently available for diagnosing infected patients. It plays a critical role in diagnosing infectious individuals early in the course of the disease to enable them to isolate and prevent the spread of the virus to others.

Capital Health’s saliva-based COVID-19 testing features pain-free self-collection coupled with  critical sample consistency for optimal accuracy. Our test offers patients the safest process available for the successful detection of the Sars-Cov 2 virus.

Capital Health’s offerings provide patients and physicians a diagnostic advantage not only through our multiple collection methods  (Saliva, NP or OP) but through our ability to  identify Sars- Cov 2’s current and continuing viral mutations.

At Capital Health we believe in utilizing only the best.

We perform all of our Covid-19 testing on ThermoFisher Quant Studio 12k RT-PCRs.

Collection Methods : Nasopharyngeal (NP) Swabs , Oropharyngeal (OP) Swabs, Saliva

SENSITIVITY, SPECIFICITY, AND CROSSREACTIVITY

Sensitivity : 20ng/ml.

Specificity :  > 99% Specificity.

Cross-reactivity : No cross reactivity with other common respiratory viral infections.

Turn Around : 24-48hrs from time lab receives specimen.

Antibody Testing

Capital Health’s COVID-19 serology test is a qualitative, total IgM/IgG antibody test. The test offers vital information to help diagnose and manage COVID-19 patients. The CDC serology testing recommendation is for total Immunoglobulin (IgM/IgG), which Capital Health’s testing is aligned with. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/lab/faqs.html

Why total antibody testing is more effective?

Capital Health’s COVID-19 Total Antibody Assay gives you the ability to detect the presence of IgM and/or IgG antibodies, increasing the sensitivity & specificity of the test, and therefore reducing the number of false negatives that could result from only testing a single antibody. This total antibody test has a much faster turnaround time than a single antibody The IgM fraction rises before the IgG so it is possible to detect antibodies earlier after conversion with a Total Assay than one measuring IgG only. This makes Capital Health’s assay a better indicator of prior infection by reducing false negatives in the early stages that you may see with a single IgG antibody test.
